PT Youth Theater Presents"Peer Gynt"

By Henrik Ibsen
Adapted & Directed by Marc Weinblatt

THIS PRODUCTION IS OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY GRADES 3-12

A liar or a teller of tales? Irresponsible or a dreamer? In pastoral Norway, young Peer Gynt longs for adventure and so leaves his simple life behind to travel the vast world. Peer’s adventures take him from his safe and predictable village home with his mother to “The Hall of Mountain King” to a beach in Morocco to a madhouse in Egypt to a shipwreck in the middle of the ocean and more. He meets trolls, a monster, the devil, even Death itself. Will Peer ever put his affairs in order and find what he is seeking? Join us for this epic Norse tale exploring one’s purpose, life’s meaning, and the power of true love.

Full of dance and song, this production will feature a live orchestra, under the direction of Kristin Smith, playing the famous music written by Edvard Grieg for the original production in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway, 150 years ago!
